Classic Cystoids

Caryocrinites ornatus (Hall, 1852)
and
Hallopora elegantula (Hall, 1852)

This unique find shows how bryozoan can grow (as epifauna) on a host, in this case a Caryocrinites ornatus cystoid. As the bryozoan (Hallopora elegantula) continued to grow and branch out the weight became too much for the cystoid to support and finally fell over.

Caryocrinites ornatus (Hall, 1852)

This plate has 11 superb specimens on it. The longest specimen measures 19.5 cm and the shortest is 10.2 cm. The width of the cluster at its widest point is 15 cm. This cluster is attached to a bryozoan mass which measures
 8.3 cm x 53. cm.
